Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) - Memorable quotes

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) - Memorable quotes: "Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Has it been five years? Six? It seems like a lifetime, the kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of. But no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant."

ESPN - TrueHoop

ESPN - TrueHoop: "Hear me out: the Spurs don't sweat the regular season. (Witness: last night's revenge of Beno Udrih.) They just don't. It's too long. You can't peak for 100 games straight. So they play hard enough. If they played hard all the time, however, they would have been the top seed, and they would have met the strongest oppostion in the conference finals, which is not the Finals as you'd wish, but at least it's not the freaking second round. If the season were 60 games, every regular season game meant that much more, and the wear and tear on the bodies was less, maybe then there would be no reason for the Spurs not to get themselves a top seed."

Amen. They need to shorten the season by a lot. I would like to see it down to 50 games. Will thi$ happen? Of cour$e not.

Why Oprah Won't Help Obama - TIME

Why Oprah Won't Help Obama - TIME

Well if you were wondering what the meme was with the Chi-town native look no further: he has no experience! Unfortunately TIME not only seems to buy into this meme but does no real critical analysis of it such to say, 'Hmmm, how much experience does Hill really have? How much did Bush have and, of that, was it helpful at all?'

The larger point here to me is, and I think Obama should hit on this regularly, the beltway insiders are saying: 'I am not one of them.'

Obama: 'They are right.'

I know he has said this before, but I would almost make it my campaign theme.

Q&A: Talking with Stephen King - TIME

Q&A: Talking with Stephen King - TIME

Ah, what an interview. What you will read from HuffPost and other outlets is 'he wants to waterboard Jenna!' which is not a bad catch, but to me the best thing? Realness. Not enough of that in this world. I suppose he has the job and the financial situation to be himself and to be real, but I admire it nonetheless. Oh that we could and were all so genuine.

ESPN - Report: 49ers co-owner promises change, GM hire - NFL

ESPN - Report: 49ers co-owner promises change, GM hire - NFL: "DeBartolo York told the Chronicle that the panel would include her husband and co-owner, John York; son Jed York; vice president of player personnel Scot McCloughan; vice president of football operations Lal Heneghan; and Nolan."

Ok, I am going to try and make a brief point here on this day before I put myself into a food coma and it is this: Do you see the Lakers doing very well right now? Do you see the Niners doing well? They might have something in common folks and that is nepotism. It is unfortunate that my generation has to rely so much on nepotism (I am a culprit in a way myself - thanks to my dad for a foot into my industry) but what do we expect when we really don't have a ton of opportunities here in America anymore to move up the ladder? We are a stagnate society in a way it feels and it really is sad how this feeds itself: you are doing okay, but your son needs a job so you give him one and now you have lost 7 (or 8?) games in a row. The country is doing this same thing on a larger scale.

JON CARROLL

JON CARROLL: "What next, a loyalty oath? 'I bid one no trump, and all hail to our glorious leader George W. Bush.' Sheesh."

Holy shit what an incredible story. Hopefully to be filed under, 'Only in these times' but frankly I am getting worried that this may not be as contained as it should.

Great quote on my google home page this morning:

There’s so much comedy on television. Does that cause comedy in the streets?

ESPN Page 2 - The Sports Guy: Sore winner

ESPN Page 2 - The Sports Guy: Sore winner

I love ya buddy but damn if you aren't being a whiny little bitch these days in regards to the pats. You would think with a new kid in hand you would have a better sense of perspective. I'm surprised after your litany of whiny-ness you would have wanted to flag Harrison for blocking in the back (twice) on that long Addai TD. That was the greatest by the way. Maybe there is some big conspiracy there too! The players are turning against the team!

To be fair there were a lot of calls in the game that I thought should have been no calls and said so during the game, but jeezuz man, get your head about you. Pull yourself back together.

Stay classy Simmons.
