Great article. Fun and funny.

Well I continue to be a bit scared about this. Not so much that extreme weather is happening really or that it seems to be a bit more freaky (happening at odder and odder times) these days or even that the severity seems to be increasing but rather that we don't seem to be doing anything about it.

We talk about it of course and we even write about it. Some of us try to do our parts here and there as well. Some become vegetarians, some drive a Prius and others try to do things here and there (when you walk into a bathroom and wonder why the light is out - don't wonder too hard: it was me trying to do my very small part). Some even heroically dedicate their lives and careers. But let's be honest shall we? When we are 8 billion strong and growing turning the lights off or driving a Prius don't mean shit. And let me not sugar coat it: our efforts are doing nothing against this tidal wave. I guess I hope that the legislation coming down the pike will begin to address this issue... tidal waves wait for no one. Not even 8 billion of us.

You and your puny salary / You think a $100K salary is a lot? $500K? Please. The truly wealthy scoff at your paltry breadcrumbs

You and your puny salary / You think a $100K salary is a lot? $500K? Please. The truly wealthy scoff at your paltry breadcrumbs: "Oh yes, and here's the other thing: It is the world's first billion-dollar personal residence. Actually, $2 billion. Imagine the fanciest, most ridiculously overpampered, seriously egomaniacal hotel you can possibly think of, and dip it in solid gold. Then sprinkle it with diamonds and Bugatti Veyrons and the fine, tender pelts of a million baby seals. That's the parking garage."

Great article that signifies much. Brings up interesting questions (always from Morford) about wealth and happiness and what it means.

Now I can't say I love this except for the end which reads:

Senator Clinton:
Good game.

Let's not embarrass ourselves here.

Almost 4,000 die in cyclone in Myanmar; Toll could hit 10,000 - Yahoo! News

Almost 4,000 die in cyclone in Myanmar; Toll could hit 10,000 - Yahoo! News: "The cyclone blew roofs off hospitals and schools and cut electricity in Myanmar's largest city, Yangon. Older citizens said they had never seen the city of some 6.5 million so devastated in their lifetimes."

Well I personally wish them all the very best through this and I also hope that we, America, soon buck up and realize that while we may not be directly contributing to increased storm activity and severity we certainly are not helping things with how we consume and pollute in different ways. Let's change.
