Ancient ice shelf breaks free in Arctic - World Environment - MSNBC.com: "“This is a dramatic and disturbing event. It shows that we are losing remarkable features of the Canadian North that have been in place for many thousands of years,” Vincent said. “We are crossing climate thresholds, and these may signal the onset of accelerated change ahead.”"

Talking Points Memo: by Joshua Micah Marshall December 29, 2006 12:05 PM

This is the best we can do? This is the only thing the resident can get right...

Unbelievable really in retrospect that we could have ever hoped for anything different given this man's past. From failure to failure in action however, amazingly, chance after chance. From failed oil ventures to failure in the MLB to his greatest failure ever: running our country into debt and a un-winnable situation. Josh, I predict in 20-50 years this will be the new American cautionary tale: about a man who despite all the chances in the world could just not... would not... get it right.

Climate change may kill European skiing - Sunday Times - Times Online: "The forecast this weekend did little to dispel gloom at French ski resorts, which were forced to cancel World Cup events last week. From the Arctic Circle to the Pyrenees, winter tourists looked skywards to ask the same question: where’s the snow? "

We in America have given up a city, you can't give up a sport euros? C'mon sacrifice.

U.S. gasoline prices creep up - Automotive - MSNBC.com

So no fucking coverage as to why this might be? Nice work media friends. Just reporting the facts and doesn't lead to any questions whatsoever like: did these oil fucks who have got us stuck in Iraq play with oil prices in the lead up to the election and now have gone back to their obscene profiting ways? No hmmm... no 'huh?' no follow up of any sort. Just the facts folks. Just the facts and no investigation to perhaps some underlying facts. Unbelievable.

Let me tell you a story: on election Tuesday I went to get some gum at a gas station and I said to the attendant, 'I should probably get some gas too huh since prices will be going up next week?' And he laughed to himself and then said a couple of times, 'very smart, very smart'. I did not think it was that smart but rather pretty apparent if one is paying attention, but I guess with our media being so fucking dumb I do look good by comparison.

Talking Points Memo: by Joshua Micah Marshall December 15, 2006 12:39 AM

Who's for this exactly? is the perfect question my good man. Seems no one is except whom exactly? Well, let's see... there is Halliburton and there is the cliched military-industrial complex and, well, that is pretty much it. Tells you what you need to know eh? I kinda would like the whole democracy thing back personally. What happened?
