White House refuses to release full NIE report - Politics - MSNBC.com: "The White House refused Wednesday to release in full a previously secret intelligence assessment that depicts a growing terrorist threat and has fueled the election-season fight over the Iraq war."

Of course. Standard playbook: control the information and the trickle of information released. Info=power.

Here is what I think: things are not going badly at all. Things are going exactly according to plan. Money is being made and permanent bases are being established. For those in power and those with the means, this is a long war. They are fighting it so the future Exxon CEO's and shareholders and monkeys behind the curtain have oil in the ground and power within their grasp. Repeat: things are going just perfectly for a wealthy few. Just perfect otherwise you might see some changes right? You would not see the corporate class and pundit class still rallying around this war resident. You would see a blue dress or you would hear a whitewater tale being told.

As sad as the carnage and lives lost and damage done to countries and hearts and minds and limbs... it matters not to the select few who are engineering things right now.

I know how you feel brother. I tucker out usually right around 5 points.

Is pump price drop tied to Nov. elections? - Answer Desk - MSNBC.com: "
The sharp drop in prices at the pump has a number of readers wondering: Is this just a ploy to defuse the issue of gasoline prices from the upcoming November elections? "

Yes.

Bush Untethered - New York Times: "The debate over prisoners is not about whether some field agent can dunk Osama bin Laden’s head to learn the location of the ticking bomb, as one senator suggested last week. It is about whether the United States can confront terrorism without shredding our democratic heritage. This nation is built on the notion that the rules restrain our behavior, because we know we’re fallible. Just look at the hundreds of men in Guantánamo Bay, many guilty of nothing, facing unending detention because Mr. Bush did not want to follow the rules after 9/11."

Bush: U.S. in 'struggle for civilization' Chicago Tribune: "In truth, it is a struggle for civilization. We are fighting to maintain the way of life enjoyed by free nations"

It is funny to me how often these guys are right, but not in the way they intend. We are in a struggle for civilization however not against others, but ourselves. Should we not decide to listen and be attentive to Mother Nature civilization will be but a fleeting idea.

"We Have Not Forgotten, Mr. President." - Yahoo! News: "And anyone who claims that I and others like me are 'soft,'or have 'forgotten' the lessons of what happened here is at best a grasping, opportunistic, dilettante and at worst, an idiot whether he is a commentator, or a Vice President, or a President."

Amen.

DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE LYRICS - I Will Follow You Into The Dark: "Love of mine some day you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark"

Google: "Things may be getting better, but the outcome depends totally on you now. How willing are you to say goodbye to those aspects of your own personality that get in the way of your progress? This might sound harsh, but whatever makes you feel anxious needs to be brought to the surface where you can deal with it out in the open and eliminate it if necessary."

Hmmm...

I think they say it a bit better than me.

Smack: "Well that was terrible. Team USA looked awful, getting rocked by Greece this morning. Everyone shares the blame on this one. The players obviously get most of it. The U.S. missed foul shots, layups, dunks and wide open threes. And even worse, they let Greece - a team not even in the same universe athletically - continuously beat them down the court for easy fast break buckets. The coaches get some of the blame too. Greece was running a basic 2-3 zone (a defense you're taught how to beat when in grade school basketball) and we were running some kind of iso one-on-five offense. And, on top of that, we got butchered by Greeces simple pick-and-rolls on the other end. Theres no excuse for not being able to slow that down. Pick-and-rolls are bascially the backbone of NBA offenses and these guys see them every single day"

NBA- Greece Stuns U.S. at World Championships - AOL Sports: "In Greece, thousands gathered in the streets, waved flags and honked car horns. Traffic information screens flashed the final score, and drivers abandoned cars to join celebrating crowds."

Hard to win the thing when your players took long stretches of the game as if it were an All-Star game and not a fight for their citizens and pride. I sometimes unconciously do this same thing during games myself cause I am a fat, lazy bastard, but no excuse for our boys. Kirk and big Howard excepted.

Maybe ne- um, in two years? Sorry sacks.
