We have a funny situation going on now that I had to briefly write about. Things have become so very apparent to me, but oddly the national conversation seems to go the opposite way. It isn't new of course. John Kerry, the gentleman who actually went to war and by most all accounts served bravely, got turned into... something else. That said I can't just sit by in our Rov-ian world now and not comment at the very least.

So I will say this: again Mother Nature is manifesting herself in front of your eyes. She is screaming to you now as she has many, various times in the past. She talks through Bill Gates. Al Gore. So many others. She is making herself apparent now here and here.

Climate of course is so much bigger than weather. A snow storm on the east coast is nothing to get too ginned up about nor is rain in Vancouver. It is the long, slow drip of these events and the truth we all know that cuts the deepest: we need to make changes and take our environment into account more. We need to price in (until we perhaps find a better system) this immutable truth:

Mother Nature holds all the cards.

UPDATE: Here is the actual speech from Bill Gates about this important topic.

I had to write this to 60 minutes in regards to their 'Quiet Professionals' segment the other night:

Hello, Hope all is well. I wanted to let you know that I especially enjoyed your Sean White segment the other night, but found the 'Quiet Professionals' segment to be not much more than propaganda. Please don't get me wrong: some ra-ra and cheering is good and I definitely support our soldiers, but as a news organization I hold you to a much higher standard and I think you should hold yourselves to a higher standard. One glaring issue with this piece was asking a good soldier what winning this war was. What do you expect him to say? How and why could you not have directed some of these incredibly important questions to pentagon brass? This is the key thing that sticks in my craw about this war and Iraq: what the fuck is winning? Or perhaps the better question is: what are our strategic objectives? The public has no idea and 60 minutes did nothing to help move this understanding along.
