ESPN - ESPN The Magazine

ESPN - ESPN The Magazine

Jordan's take is a good one and simple enough that anyone can understand it. It comes down to this:

You cannot fake being genuine.

Whether you are talking about the NBA, a corporate executive, a city official or a presidential candidate: we know it when we see it and we know it when we don't.

Apropos of my previous post about Bush: it is easy to see when he is talking that he doesn't believe half the things he says. Man may not even be genuine with himself and boy, there is nothing sadder to see.

Mr. Bush,
No offense dude but for the 22% of folks who still listen and take in a word that you say I think you might be hurting your credibility here. Everyone who works for a living knows and has known for some months now that we probably are in a recession (depression?) right now.

Just a heads up.

Kind regards.

Huge step forward in our society. I guess in my ideal world it would be our government doing such things as this for our most vulnerable, but I guess at this point I will take it as I get it. Great going Google. Really, really great. Very proud of you and the way you are acting in the community. Between this and your focus on the environment soon we may see a 'larry for president' campaign. Frankly I will start it here, now. I would definetely vote for you guys to run this sinking ship.

Eugene Robinson - If Obama Went 0-for-10 . . . - washingtonpost.com: "Yes, we're dealing with Hillary Clinton, whose picture ought to be in the dictionary beside the word resilient. But after losing 10 in a row, she can't avoid facing -- and we can no longer avoid asking -- those unwelcome questions about whether she does her party more harm than good if she stays in the race until the convention."

Harm.

I really like this idea. Would love to see it.

Don't miss this. Very disturbing. At the same time I guess my hope is that this was just one judge who didn't totally understand what he was ruling on. Time will tell I suppose.

ESPN Page 2 - The Sports Guy: Where was the Rocket's red glare?: "Given that we're dealing with Iraq, global warming, the subprime shakeout, the decline of the American dollar, the decline of the public-school system and every other troublesome reality in this country right now, it's hard to believe some of our most notable Congressmen didn't have a better way to spend this week than interrogating a disgraced Hall of Fame pitcher and the sad-sack Andy Dick lookalike who once trained him. I do not approve this usage of my tax dollars."

I guess someone had to say it just a bit troubling it is coming from one man who writes about sports... where are the rest of you in the media trumpeting this message? Dear lord. Now back to Britney news people.

"Generations to come, it may be, will scarcely believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth. (In reference to the death of Mahatma Gandhi.)"

Good quote of the day from a man who in fact may meet the same fate. It may very well be in years/generations from now that people simply will not believe a man such as Einstein walked the earth and, with his way of thinking so different from the flock, was able to change how people viewed the world.

CDC tests confirm FEMA units are toxic - Life- msnbc.com: "More than two years after residents of FEMA trailers deployed along the Mississippi Gulf Coast began complaining of breathing difficulties, nosebleeds and persistent headaches, U.S. health officials announced Thursday that long-awaited government tests found potentially hazardous levels of toxic formaldehyde gas in both travel trailers and mobile homes provided by the agency."

Hand slaps forehead. Could anything else happen to these people? Dear lord.

What a wild socialist, commie, pinko bastard this guy is. For shame sir! For shame.

Farewell Remarks by Los Angeles Editor - New York Times

Farewell Remarks by Los Angeles Editor - New York Times: "When this industry stops relying so much on cuts and starts investing in Journalism, it will prosper because it will be serving the best interests of our readers. That’s when we will prosper."

Amen and great point. What a self-fulfilling prophecy the journalism business has been leading eh? Its a vicious circle of: lets do less and less real reporting and factual digging instead focusing simply on the surface and, what do you know? People do not get involved in this type of news nor do they make the investment of time and money.

Instead should one really spend the time investigating the anthrax attacks in our country, for instance, and do some real in depth reporting about this maybe you start to see people get interested and invest in this story in a lot of ways. On the flip side perhaps journalism could start to also, instead of focusing on gossip and spears', focus on true heroes amongst us and offer us personal reporting about all that is going on with them (not simply to tear them down later mind you) perhaps we start to see a new paradigm of reporting and journalism?
