MSNBC - House to move on arctic refuge drilling: "WASHINGTON - A House committee is expected to vote next week to revive a broad energy bill that would allow oil drilling in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a key part of the Bush administration's national energy plan that faces opposition in the Senate."

I think this would be a step in the right direction however possibly too late at this stage of the game (for the energy created for hybrids also brings with it pollution).

We need a true shake up of the status quo and shift in mind set if we are to make it through the next 100 years without signifigant human and other species losses (something all ready underway).
